Description of duties

The Institute for Managing Annual Grasses Invading Natural Ecosystems (IMAGINE), a partnership housed at the University of Wyoming, seeks a motivated professional to work with a team of researchers, educators, and land management professionals to develop and implement a regional educational program focused on strategic management of invasive annual grasses in rangeland ecosystems. This position will work closely with the IMAGINE Director and a team from multiple western states to produce online and hard copy curriculum, educational modules, and other technical materials to be shared in hands-on workshops and online training events at multiple locations in the western US.

Organizing and facilitating cooperation among subject matter experts, stakeholders, and educational professionals to develop and deliver a translational outreach program designed to empower land managers in their ability to strategically mitigate the impacts of invasive annual grasses in rangeland ecosystems of the western U.S.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Planning, organizing, and implementing expert workshops and discussions among stakeholders and partners
  • Participating as part of a team to produce and share educational materials including field guides and handbooks, online educational modules, videos, and others
  • Providing local arrangement logistics support and planning for a series of educational field and classroom workshops in multiple western states
  • Facilitating communication among core team members and stakeholders and implementing accountability functions to ensure timeliness of activities
  • Serving as liaison between core team members and local stakeholders and clientele to ensure project tasks are accomplished across the program area
Qualifications sought

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Master of Science degree and/or experience in weed science, rangeland ecology, natural resources, science education, or closely related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including communicating/translating technical information for nontechnical audiences
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working with a standard suite of computer-based software and technology useful for creating, editing, and sharing information
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal/relational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge about invasive plant ecology and management in rangeland ecosystems
  • Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the https://www.uwyo.edu/risk/_files/docs/offical-vehicle-policy.pdf” target=”_blank”>University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience creating and editing content for traditional web-based outlets and social media platforms
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions or training in facilitation or mediation
  • Experience in planning educational events and workshops (events planning experience)
  • Experience in program evaluation to determine progress toward programmatic goals
