Description of duties |
A Graduate Research Assistant position (Ph.D.) is available at the Michigan State University, Department of Horticulture in the ornamental weed management research program of Dr. Debalina Saha. The graduate research assistant will conduct research on weed control for ornamental crop production which includes greenhouse, nursery, and Christmas tree production systems. The weed control research will involve both chemical and non-chemical strategies. In addition to the doctoral research, the student will also assist in conducting other ongoing projects such as IR-4 research trials and chemical company herbicide efficacy and crop safety trials. The student is expected to conduct experiments in greenhouse conditions, field, and in the lab. Driving is required. The student is expected to take coursework, present research results at national and international conferences, and publish manuscripts in both extension and peer-reviewed journals. |
Qualifications sought |
Qualifications include a BS or MS in horticulture, weed science, plant biology, botany, agronomy, and other related discipline. Experience with greenhouse, fieldwork, and herbicide application is desirable but is not required. |
