Horticulture-General Agriculture Extension Agent
Description of Duties
The Oregon State University Extension Service is seeking a new member of our team who has education and experience in agricultural production. This position will provide technical assistance (outreach) to farmers and ranchers in Columbia County in the areas of horticultural crops (vegetables, fruit, tree nuts, nursery crops) and may include agronomic crops like seed, pasture, hay, and mint oil. In this role the team member will support the OSU Extension’s community horticulture program by providing technical advice, outreach, and classes to volunteers serving as Master Gardeners.
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and who enjoys being part of a positive office team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE, 12 month), Assistant Professor of Practice position, based at the Columbia County Extension Office in St Helens, Oregon, with an academic home in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. A MS degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, or a closely related field is required and must be completed by June 30, 2024.
