Description of Duties
A fully-funded PhD Graduate Research Assistantship is available with a focus on agronomy/weed science, integrating digital technologies. The position will contribute to building a weed image repository, developing weed-recognition algorithms, and advancing precision technologies for weed detection and site-specific management. The candidate will collaborate with national and international partners and work within an interdisciplinary team.
Required
• MS degree (or near completion) in agriculture/plant science or a closely related field, with a strong foundation in agronomy
• Demonstrated interest in precision agriculture and sensor technologies and an ability to learn quickly, work independently, and contribute effectively in a team
• Strong oral and written English communication skills
Preferred
• Hands-on experience with digital tools (e.g. image analysis workflows, GIS, scripting in Python, knowledge of Machine Learning, big data management)
• Because of the timeline, preference may be given to applicants who are currently based in the U.S. or who can complete hiring paperwork quickly
