Research Specialist Sr.

Description of Duties

To conduct weed science research leading to efficient and effective weed control in agronomic and vegetable crops for the farmers of Virginia through a better understanding of herbicide activity. Helping students and staff on smart farming studies involving UAV, and robots. May carry or use a firearm as a part of daily responsibilities.

Knowledge of general agriculture, especially production, and, in particular, weed science; experienced in small plot design herbicide applications and analysis of data, experienced to handle research and farm equipment, skills and experience in filing and organizing data, ability to interpret data, framing experiment protocols, conducting field surveys for herbicide-resistance evaluations and to meet and communicate with diverse groups, which may include growers, extension agents, scientists in industry and university systems. Knowledgeable about working on computer, using excel, word, and powerpoint and using data entry software.
