Graduate Research Assistantship – PhD

Description of Duties

The Noguera Lab at Montana State University is seeking a Ph.D. student to lead research focused on herbicide resistance in Bromus tectorum (cheatgrass) in winter cereal production systems.
The student will conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory research focused on characterizing resistance mechanisms and developing effective management strategies. Responsibilities include design and execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, and presenting results at scientific meetings.

Required Qualifications:
-M.S. degree in Weed Science, or a closely related field
-Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Willingness to obtain a pesticide applicator license

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with molecular techniques
-Familiarity with data management and analysis software

The Southern Agricultural Research Center (SARC) is one of seven off-campus research centers in the Department of Research Centers, and consists of 462 irrigated and dryland acres.
