Description of Duties
The Product Development Team supporting the North American Crop Business is comprised of advanced degreed life-science and agronomic professionals responsible for designing studies to bring new products to the marketplace in a broad range of crop segments. Regional Product Development Scientists interact with numerous AMVAC teams in Sales, Marketing, Chemistry, Regulatory and Business Development and provide a unique connection to researchers at academic institutions as well as other independent & 3rd party research teams focused on building AMVAC’s R&D product performance and value.
– Plan and execute national field research programs to grow AMVAC’s annual product development objectives
– Work closely with the Commercial Teams to support the current product line as well as identify new opportunities
– Create strong relationships with key influencers in the region to understand and enhance commercial opportunities affecting speed to market including Universities and private companies
– Work with department peers to implement national R&D programs
– Follow and report on competitive activities within the region and product segments
– Identify strategic opportunities to capture new technology
– Actively participate in key regional and national technical conferences
– Add value to cross functional teams tasked with finding new opportunities
– Assist regional Commercial Teams in the implementation of product demonstrations
– Provide technical training on existing and new products to the regional sales teams, key customers, and others as needed
– Track regional Product Development operational expenses
– Support the Regulatory Affairs Department on issues which may arise during the evaluation of new products or routine questions on registered products, especially in the region
– Masters Degree (biological sciences or agricultural related field) Required –PhD in Entomology or Plant Pathology a plus
– 5+ years’ experience in commercial crop protection and plant physiology; specialty crops desired
– Knowledge in multiple crop protection disciplines
– Basic concepts of product development, development planning, and product support
– Excellent Interpersonal oral and written communication skills
– Intuitive thinking, research planning, project delivery
– Statistical design, as well as analysis and interpretation of results
– Leadership, motivation and self-discipline to work from a home office
– Ability to work in teams while working remotely
– Organizational skills to successfully manage a large, diverse territory
– Use of standard and specialized software for data capture and analysis
– Microsoft Office: (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
– Willingness and ability to travel between 30% to 40% of the time
Physical location should be within the research region – RTP
(NC, GA, FL, SC, East TN, VA, and Delmarva)
